Africa Mina: The New Promise of Spanish Fashion.
The fashion world is always on the lookout for new faces that embody the essence of the moment, and in recent years, Spain has been the birthplace of several promising international modellers. Among them, Africa Mina stands out, a young Sevillian of Ecuadorian descent who has managed to carve a niche for herself in the industry with talent, perseverance and a unique beauty.
A High Level Debut at Gucci
At just 18 years old, Africa Mina made her international catwalk debut with Gucci at the brand's centenary show in 2021. Under the creative direction of Alessandro Michele, the Madrid-born model was part of a visually stunning show, cementing her place in the industry. Her look, inspired by equestrian aesthetics, featured a leather harness with stirrups over a long-sleeved green dress, leaving a strong impression on the audience and fashion critics.
About her participation in Gucci, Africa confessed that it was a dream come true. ‘My favourite moment was when we shot the garden part. It was amazing, even the set smelled like wet earth. I loved how I looked on the catwalk and I can say that I'm proud of myself.’ Her debut was so impressive that she was quickly listed in the prestigious Models.com directory.
Career on the Rise: Editorials and Advertising Campaigns
Following her successful debut, Africa Mina has continued to make a name for herself in international fashion. In 2021, she starred in ‘The Gucci 100 Campaign’ photographed by Joshua Woods and appeared in the editorial ‘Flores de cercanía’ for Vogue Spain, immortalised by photographer Miguel Reveriego. Her growth continued with an editorial appearance in Acero Magazine in July 2023, captured by Abel Trujillo.
A Model with Vision and Purpose
Beyond her undeniable talent on the runway, Africa Mina is a voice within the industry advocating for diversity and inclusion in fashion. ‘I love the diversity among Gucci models, so I think it's a safe space for all races and cultures,’ she said in an interview. Her Ecuadorian origin and modelling experience have allowed her to be a point of reference for representation in the industry, which still struggles for greater equity and plurality.
Agencies and representation
Currently, Africa Mina is part of important modelling agencies:
- Genesis Model Management (London)
- Fifth Models (Barcelona - Mother Agency)
Thanks to the management of her agents and her own efforts, she continues to position herself as one of the Spanish models with the greatest international projection.
Africa Mina's Future in Fashion
With a career on the rise, Africa Mina has great aspirations in the world of modelling. She dreams of modelling for iconic brands such as Versace and Fenty, and there is no doubt that, with her charisma and professionalism, she is on the right track to achieve it.
Spanish and international fashion have found in Africa Mina a fresh face and an ambassador of diversity and elegance. We will undoubtedly continue to see her conquering new catwalks and campaigns in the coming years, so keep an eye on her career!
